HIV/AIDS AWARENESS EDUCATION

ken2Community mobilization is the key to success in bringing awareness and education to the residents and that there is hope if we work together.   We will hold monthly seminars  in collaboration with other CBOs, Churches and Mosques to enable the residents to understand the impact of the disease taking into account the sensitivity of culture.

These seminars will cover the safety of testing, personal Hygiene,  Diet, Social behaviour, implications and limitations of culture and referral to the medical services.

We will provide direct distribution of Vitamins, food, clothing, condoms Will go a long way to make the resident comfortable.  We will provide direct assistance to individuals in treatment of other common disease which accelerates HIV into AIDS stage i.e. malaria, typhoid, TB etc.

EDUCATION TO ORPHANS AND NEEDY CHILDREN

SHINA Association (Kenya) would start a pilot project in the area of elementary education to provide quality Education for all, and give a chance to the children who has never been to school before. We will start with Mafisini Village.

In this village due to No child left behind requirement introduced by President Mwai Kibaki they found themselves having a ration of 100:1 Student to teacher.  Not only is it impossible to teach, it is impossible for a child to learn in this environment.

ken1 As a pilot project SHINA Association (Kenya) will collaborate with Holy Ghost Miracle Academy  (HGMA) located in Kisauni Division Mombasa District in the Coast Province to bridge the gap  The HGMA was opened on August 8th 2006 and in two weeks we had 14 children  age 2 to 9yrs old most of whom have never been to school before.
We ask you to join hands with us to assist such children to provide uniform, fees and snacks during school. It’s our great hope and wish that the centre will make a change in the lives of the young ones. Together let us
Send Hope, Inspire and Nourish by utilizing Accumulated knowledge and skills.

SHINA OPERATION JOY

SHINA Association ( Kenya) would like to put smile on the Orphaned and needy children  Many times Orphans and Less fortunate kids are forgotten during the holiday seasons. As  people are in high spirits partying these poor children look without any hope – We plan to put a smile on their faces and make them know that someone cares. This holiday program is scheduled the third week of December each year. We have dedicated it to be the Children Thanksgiving celebration. It is takes just a $10 to give HOPE  to each child’s children face during the holidays.  The size and number of smiles will be decided by your contribution

WOMEN and YOUTH  MICRO BUSINESS PROGRAM

MICRO Projects program will assist widows and orphaned Youth to be self reliant, feed and educate their family.  The program will include Seminars and Training on how to run a business, budgeting, record keeping, and marketing. The program will be a tool for social development and support in cultural enrichment. It will encourage the participants to be fully involved in the community to bring change and awareness on HIV/ADS and other plights facing the community of Mafisini in Mobasa

WATER PROJECT PROGRAM

Mafisini village is behind in development.  Currently they are facing water shortage, unemployment, teenage pregnancies, poor diet, etc. Our aim for 2007 is to sponsor this project in collaboration with  Wanawake wa Mwelekeo Self Help Group  a CBO in Mombasa to provide clean water to the community.

This is a three Year project which will include feasibility study, digging well, installation of pumps and needed tanks in the areas of Mafisini
